Meet The Team

This page of the website is dedicated to the four legged friends that make my life complete! Here, I will introduce you to my horses and keep you up to date on their competing progress and any successes that we have.

LIZ XXX

Moorelands Magic (Stable name Madge)

Madge joined our family in September 2007. I was desperately looking for a side saddle horse to compete on and was currently borrowing Rustic Dancer (Lenny) from Dot Parker. My sincere thanks go to Dot and Lenny as I would not be doing what I am now if werent for both of them! They have both taught me so much about side saddle and myself!

After months of searching I heard that a horse that I used to ride may be coming up for sale. Of course I was straight on the phone!!

One look was all it took, and I went back the following day with the lorry to collect her. She was on a three month trial with a view to buy. After three weeks, the decision was made and the deal was done!

Madge had never carried a side saddle before coming to me but took to it like a duck to water. However, the saddle that I had was not right for her so the search began again! Just after Christmas we got a new saddle and the training commenced.

We have just completed our first National Championship show at Addington Manor together in August 2008, coming away with a 3rd in the first class that we attended! Madge absolutely loved the weekend away and made lots of new friends. Here are some recent piccies of her and I doing what we love best.

Notts Derby Charity Show August 2008

Notts Derby Charity Show August 2008 - Just qualified for Equestrian Life Ridden Hunter Championships!!

Update: June 2009:

Madge has been doing very well this season so far. We have been to a few dressage events and come home with a red or blue rosette in most classes! Last week we did our first SSA show of the year and came 3rd in the Equitation and 2nd in the Concour D'Elegance. I was realy pleased with this result and cant wait until Derby County next week!

Liz and Madge at Mooreland Stables SSA Show 14th June 2009

Update: July 2009

Following the show at Mooreland Stables was Derby County. We came 6th in the Equitation class out of a realy strong class of 14. The top 5 had all either been 'rider of the year' or in the 'ride off'. This was a fantastic achievement for Madge and I.

One week later, and off we went to Market Bosworth Country Show. After nearly missing the class due to lack of numbers in the class before, Madge had to go in the ring 'cold' as it were, not having time to warm up!! Despite this fact, Madge and I were considered the best on the day and came away with some superb red rosettes and a lovely trophy!!!!! This was out of again a strong class of 9 forward!!! Madge and I are currently still smiling with pride!!

Update: August 2009

Along with the start of August came the SSA National Championship Show. Wow, what a show!! The first class we did was a dressage test in the long arena. We brought home a lovely third rosette for this class out of a very strong class of 25. Our points also counted towards the joint 2nd area team dressage. Next, was the Equitation class. We were extremely pleased with our result of 12th overall and joint 3rd in the turnout phase!

Guardian Star (Stable name Lucy)

Lucy was born and bred at Brackenhurst College where I was studying at the time. I therefore know her Mum and her full history which is a lovely thought to have! She came to our yard when she was just 18months old (and just 14HH). She has turned from an ugly duckling to a beautiful swan, turning out to be a chunky monkey of about 16HH!

Lucy & Liz at Mooreland Stables dressage, November 2008

Update: June 2009

Lucy has been doing realy well this year so far! After several years of not loading we have finally managed to get out and about! She has been over to Ivanhoe Equestrian a couple of times to do some work in their menage and has been an absolute star! We have also been doing a bit of jumping work and hope to get out to some clear round competitions towards the end of the season!

Lucy and Liz at Mooreland Stables CR Jumping May 2009

Joshua (Stable name Josh)

Josh is the veteran of the yard. He has been with us since he was 7 years old and is now 15. throughout his time with us he has competed at Local, County and National level both astride and side ways. He has had numerous wins and realy is the old faithfull.

He has carried out lessons for beginners up to advanced level and can realy turn his hand to anything! He has also done several musical rides!

Ruffles

Beth now has a new pony which has been kindly lent to us from Ivanhoe Equestrian Centre.

Ruffles is a 'Heinz 57', meaning that his breeding is unknown. He has been with us since January 2009 and is proving to be a little star! Hopefully, you will see Beth on him at the forthcoming shows at Moorelands.

Pepsi Cola (stable name Pepsi)

Pepsi unfortunately passed away last year. She had been with us for over 20 years and taught me too many things to mention (including how to sit a buck or two!).

She was a truly wonderful pony and her memory still lives on at the yard. I dont think that there is a day goes past when something doesnt remind me of her and make me smile!

RIP Pepsi - we will never forget you! xxx

And last but not least....my doggy, Ralph!

Well, here is a little monkey! I wouldnt have him any other way and couldnt live with myself if I did this page without mentioning him!!

Ralph unfortunately broke his leg when he was 10 weeks old. He is therefore the most spoilt whippet that you will ever meet! He is a true companion and would follow me to the end of the earth and back. We love nothing more than chilling together in front of Corrie on the sofa of an evening!

....And My Ferrets!!!

Benny and Jerry - Hangin' around

Benny - Sleeping as usual! (he's not as nasty as he looks, although he is as dopey!!!)
