Classes 7 & 9 are open to beginners in the showring. Class 9 require a walk and trot show only. Competitors will have the opportunity to do a show as requested by the judge, get feedback from the judge and have the chance to repeat their show if desired. Entrants in these classes are only eligible to enter classes 7, 9, 10 & 13 at this show. All entrants in classes 7 & 9 will recieve a special rosette aswell as their individual place rosettes. Both classes 7 & 9 are open to seniors, Juniors and lead rein competitors.

Class 1: DRESSAGE: Kindly sponsored by 'Showstoppers Rosettes Ltd': Pony Club D Test, Level 1. This class is open to riders astride or sidesaddle. Placing will be split in to junior and senior sections. A special rosette will be awarded to the highest placed sidesaddle competitor. PRE entries ONLY for this class to be received by 10th June. Times available on www.moorelandstables.co.uk on 11th June.

Class 2: DRESSAGE: Kindly sponsored by 'Stitch in Time': Prelim 7 (2002). This class is open to riders astride or sidesaddle. Placing will be split in to junior and senior sections. The Side Saddle Association non-qualifying Equitation classes

Class 3: SIDE SADDLE INTERNATIONAL NOVICE SIDE SADDLE EQUITATION CLASS
Open to novice riders (those who have never competed in a SSA Equitation qualifying class) and is open to S.S.A Members and non-members. A short simple show will be required, and only in walk and trot. Lead rein riders welcome The wearing of a habit is optional. Juniors must wear hats to the current British Safety Standard. Riders may share a horse/pony.
Side Saddle International Rosettes will be awarded to the 4 highest placed SSA members carrying their current Membership card..

Class 4: SIDE SADDLE INTERNATIONAL RESTRICTED SIDE SADDLE EQUITATION CLASS Open to novice riders ( those never placed in the first 3 in a SSA Equitation qualifying class) This class will be run under S.S.A Equitation qualifier rules as defined in the current Members’ handbook and is open to S.S.A Members and non-members.

Class 5: SIDE SADDLE CONCOURS D’ELEGANCE
The sole criteria for this class is the elegance of the picture presented by horse and rider. Attention may be paid to the rider’s personal appearance but detailed inspection of rider or tack is not required. Fancy dress or period costume is not permitted. No individual show is required, but the Judge may ask groups of three or four riders to give short displays. 3 special rosettes will be awarded: to the highest place adult wearing a silk hat, and the highest placed adult wearing a bowler hat and the highest placed Junior,, provided they are members of the S.S.A. Junior riders must wear hats to current British Safety Standards or above for this class. Adult riders not wearing such hats do so at their own risk.

The Side Saddle Association EQUITATION CHAMPIONSHIPS QUALIFYING CLASSES:
Class 6: JUNIOR CLASS (rider must be at least 5 years old).
Class 7: ADULT CLASS
Classes (nos 6 and 7) are run under S.S.A rules defined in the current Members’ handbook and are open to S.S.A Members and non-members. Juniors must be aged under 16 on 1st January of the current calendar year. Members carrying their current Championship Points cards are eligible for S.S.A rosettes to 3rd Adult and 3rd Junior places and S.S.A Championship Points.
Side Saddle International offer a rosette to the Member Judged to be the best Turned out in Adult Equitation Qualifying Classes.
Manor Grange Stud Show Centre offer a rosette to the Junior Member, judged to be the best turned out. Champion rosettes for classes 6 & 7 kindly donated by 'Ray Smith Equine Back Specialist'.

Class 8: EQUITATION CHAMPIONSHIP CLASS1st and 2nd placed competitors from classes 6 and 7 are eligible to compete for the Equitation Trophy donated by Mrs Sue Thorne. Champion & Reserve rosettes for this class kindly donated by 'Ray Smith Equine Back Specialist'. 1 Horse or Human back treatment to the value of £50 donated by 'Ray Smith Equine Back Specialist' to the winner of class 8.

Class 9: CLASSICAL LADIES HORSE SIDE SADDLE QUALIFYING CLASS
Open SSA members and Non-members aged 16 and over riding side saddle on a horse exceeding 148cms. To be Judged 25% conformation, 25% manners and way of going, 25% rider and 25% turnout of horse and rider. Judge will not ride the horse. A short show may be required, horses will not be stripped. Traditional Habits must be worn; Fancy dress or period costume is Not permitted. Silk hats are permitted to be worn in this class at any time of the day. Judges may use a mark sheet as a guide, but it is not obligatory. A special rosette will be awarded to the highest placed member of the S.S.A carrying their current Membership card.
The highest placed horse/rider combination qualifies for the Final to be held at the National Side Saddle Show. In the event of previous qualification, this may be passed down to fourth place. Qualifying combinations are required to become members of the SSA 21 days prior to the National Show to be eligible to complete at the Final.

Class 10: AREA 12 JUMP & STYLE
Open to horses and ponies 4 years and over.Riders will be required to give a short show including walk, trot and canter on both reins., other movements are permitted, the criteria is to show style and manners. During the show, 3 jumps (max height 2’ 6”) will be jumped and these will be marked on approach, take off, style over the jump, landing and get away for each jump. Penalties of 5 for a pole down and 10 for a first refusal, 20 for a second refusal or fall of horse or rider will be applied. The criteria are based on style and manners. The height may be adjusted during the course of the class at the judge’s discretion. The class shall be judged on the show, the manners of the horse/pony and it’s suitability for the rider. Confirmation will be considered along with the horse and riders turnout. Hats to current British Safety standards or above must be worn for this class.


Entry: £8 per class before 10th June, £10 per class on the day.

Excellent chance to run through Equitation Tests and Equitation Show Jumping Course, prior to the National Championships
Affiliated Dressage and National Championship Show Judges.
Equitation Turnout Inspection
Quiet atmosphere and excellent surface.
Last years Pre-Champs Clinic was well attended, and all riders went on to good results at the National Championships. (Area 12 took 4 of the 6 top placings in the Turnout class – well done girls!!).

The Side Saddle Association EQUITATION CHAMPIONSHIPS QUALIFYING CLASSES Classes (no’s 1 and 3) are run under S.S.A rules defined in the current Members’ handbook and are open to S.S.A Members and non-members. Juniors must be aged under 16 on 1st January of the current calendar year. Class 5: EQUITATION TEST
Ride the championship test of your choice, receive feedback from the judge. Re ride the test, then go immediately to be judged for the Turnout phase.
Each Rider will be allocated a timed slot to complete, and must be ready 15 minutes before their allocated slot. Timed slot will be allocated on the day.

Followed by lunch break.

Class 6: EQUITATION JUMPING
Jump an equitation jumping course at the height of your choice, receive feedback from the judge, and then rejump the course. Riders must wear hats to current British Safety Standards or above for this class.

Entries £7 before 14th July or £10 on the day.
